The Oilcon MK6M (Oil Discharge Monitor) was developed by VAF Instruments for continuous on-line monitoring of discharge water during de-ballasting operations.

The MK6M is more reliable and more accurate than any other monitoring & control system. It is suitable for all ballast and slop water discharges. The system is based on the unique multiple scattering principle for which VAF Instruments has obtained world-wide patents. The technique has resulted in unprecedented levels of accuracy, reliability and cost efficiency of installation and ownership.

The system fully complies with MARPOL requirements and is built according to IMO Resolution MEPC 108 (49).

VAF Oilcon (Oil Discharge Monitors) – Annual Calibration Service
Mackay Marine provides annual calibration service for VAF Oilcon, Oil Discharge Monitors, Models MK5, MK6 & MK6M. Our VAF-trained Mackay Technicians fully test the Oilcon on-board to confirm system functionality and operation within specified parameters. An official certificate is issued if the Oilcon passes all tests or certifies necessary repairs were performed.

The VAF Oilcon is a critical piece of equipment to ensure discharge water is properly monitored (during de-ballasting operations) and in compliance.
