Marine Service Engineer – Houston

Mackay Marine has an opening for an experienced Marine Service Engineer (MSE), also known as an Electronics Technician (ET), for our Houston, TX depot.

Marine Service Engineer Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Marine Service Engineer (MSE) will install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships. The MSE will test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as to load, update, and modify software. The MSE will utilize his/her knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems and make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completion of the service order, the MSE will compose a detailed service report.

Marine Service Engineer Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as an MST, MET or ET in commercial shipping or the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
