Marine Electronics Technician Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Marine Electronics Technician (MET) will install, service, and repair electronic equipment on-board commercial ships. The technician will test, adjust, and troubleshoot components and antennas as well as, loading, updating, and modifying software. The MET  will utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems as well as making intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completing the service assignment, the technician will compose a detailed service report.

Marine Electronics Technician Requirements:

  • 3+ Years of experience as MET or ET in commercial shipping or acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent certifications, classroom training, and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred or will have to be obtained within the first ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying 20–50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
  • Have reliable transportation.
