Marine Electronics Technician – Seattle, WA

Mackay Marine currently has three (3) openings for experienced Marine Electronics Technicians (MET), also referred to as Marine Service Technicians, who have the skills and qualifications outlined below in our ‘Ballard depot’ located in Seattle, WA. Marine Electronics Technician Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Marine Electronics Technician (MET) will install, service, and repair electronic equipment on-board commercial fishing ships and yachts. The technician will test, adjust, and troubleshoot components and antennas as well as, loading, updating, and modifying software. MET’s utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. The technician will also make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completing the assignment, the technician will compose a detailed service report.

Marine Electronics Technician Requirements:

  • 3+ Years of experience as MET, MST, or ET in commercial shipping and/or acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
  • Associate’s Degree in electronics or equivalent certifications, classroom training, and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred and will be required after joining.
  • Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
  • A valid drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
