Mackay is currently seeking an Installer/Marine Service Technician with experience and requirements listed below to join our Digby NS team.

INSTALLER/MARINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Installer/Marine Service Technician will install, service, and repair marine electronic equipment onboard commercial fishing, shipping, and naval ships while in port. Technicians test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as to load, update, and modify software. Installer/Marine Service Technicians utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They also perform new equipment installations and must have good organizational & planning skills.

- Satellite Communications
- HF and VHF Radios & Antenna Systems
- GPS & Satellite Navigation Systems
- Autopilots
- Echo Sounders
- Computer Hardware & Software
INSTALLER/MARINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS
- Two of equivalent training and experience and/or two years of college in a relevant field.
- Possess good knowledge of electronics, DC & AC Power, theory, and application.
- Must possess a good understanding of computers, software, & networking.
- Must successfully pass a basic electronics test administered by Employer.
- Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
- Must have good working knowledge of Hand Tools, Small Power tools.
- Must be proficient in English (speak, read, and write).
- Overtime work and travel will be required at certain times due to the location of the job and for training courses.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- 2+ Years experience as an Installer, Marine Service Technician or Marine Electronics Technician preferred.
- A valid Radio GOC License would be an asset.
