Congratulations to Matt Nichols on retiring after 60 years from Nichols Brothers Boat Builders!

Congratulations to Matt Nichols for 60 years of dedication and delivering custom vessels to a wide swath of maritime customers.  Matt retired from Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) as Executive Vice President of Sales, after serving for several decades with other Nichols family as part of the company’s founding team at the shipyard in Freeland, Washington, that his father began in 1964.

Mackay Marine, in conjunction with its network of marine electronic OEM’s and other product suppliers, has collaborated with the Nichols team to provide integrated bridge electronic solutions for various new build and retrofit vessels for over 25 years.  Those collaborations include projects such as Savage Marine ATB’s (2x), Kitsap Transit Fast Ferries (2), Foss Maritime Tugboats (4), and the Lindblad Expedition’s M/V National Geographic Quest and Venture cruise ships.

Over 200 staff, their families and NBBB partners, including Mackay Marine, gathered at Nichols’ shipyard in late June to celebrate the company’s milestone 60-year anniversary and to wish Matt Nichols well in his retirement.  Mackay looks forward to the future as NBBB continues to build the highest quality custom commercial vessels in the Pacific Northwest.
